When you have reached a time in your life, where you are having financial difficulties, one of the hardest things to do is to obtain Credit Cards for poor credit. Everywhere you go, you are probably getting turned down left and right, and all you are looking for is a little help. The best advice I can give you is to not give up. There is probably a credit card company out there for you.
The most important thing to realize is that with bad credit, its still possible to obtain a credit card, you just need to understand that you will be paying a higher price for it. Stay away from all those deals that say they will give you 0% on all balance transfers. More than likely if your credit score is low, then you will not be accepted into these programs. You will have to accept the fact that you will not only pay a higher interest rate, but also a yearly fee. The yearly fees are usually around $50. You might also have to look at a company that is going to charge you a set up and activation fee.
Another key point to understand is that you will not get a very high credit amount. Usually when credit card companies give cards for poor credit applicants you will find that they will only be willing to give you a limit of $250-$500. That may not seem like much to start, but it’s the first important step to rebuilding your credit. Once you have received your card in the mail make sure to make a payment on it right away. Any fees that are charged to you when you get your credit card will be taken out of the original credit limit at the beginning. Sometimes when you start out with a credit limit of only $250, you may find that you available credit limit is closer to $50 when you first get the card just because of all the fees. Hopefully this helps some of you who are experiencing the tough times that can come with poor credit, and good luck through these sometimes very difficult times.
