Tax Refunds Are Great For Help With Credit Card Debt Consolidation
February 24th, 2008 Filed under: Uncategorized — Credit Card AuthorTax season is here. We have worked hard and given the government a good size portion of our paycheck each week for income taxes. It’s now time to settle up with the government and request a refund on the overage that we have paid.
What do we do with our tax refund?
Many of us look to this tax refund as found money and we dream of all the things that we want to spend it on. It’s human nature to always want more, we dream of the biggest and the best of everything and we just know that we deserve it. Will we throw out the old television and get that new HDTV? How about using the tax refund as a down payment on a new car? What about getting a new computer?
All of these are great ideas, but don’t you think that it’s time to begin acting responsibly? If we were completely honest with ourselves, we would admit that many times we waste money. We buy things that we don’t need or even want in a few months time.
Why not make this the year that you decide that your financial future is more important that material things.
Time for responsibility
If you have a large amount of credit card debt it is time to pay the piper. The time for pulling out the credit card for everything you see is over. And it’s time to pay for all those purchases you have made in the past. Therefore, I suggest that a much better use of your tax refund would be to reduce your credit card debt. Although it will be painful to send your tax refund to your creditors, in the long run you will be proud of yourself for doing the right thing.
Depending on the size of your refund, you may find that you can pay one or two credit cards off completely. It is a wonderful thing when you receive a credit card statement showing a zero balance.
Credit Card Debt Consolidation
Now that you have taken the first step by using your tax refund to pay down your credit card debt, it is time to take further action. Consider improving your financial picture even more by researching credit card debt consolidation. By using credit card debt consolidation you can combine all your credit card debt into a single payment at a reduced rate.
With a lower interest rate and a lower minimum monthly payment, you can add up all the payments you used to make to the different credit card companies and pay that same sum on your credit card debt consolidation. This will allow you to pay down your principle much faster. It is nice to see a significant change each month in your principle balance.
So take my suggestion. Use your tax refund to pay down your credit card debt and make this the year that you take responsibility for your financial situation and use credit card debt consolidation to make next years financial picture look even brighter.
